THE Aeropress Guide
The dark horse, the one you didn’t know you needed. The Aeropress has been picking up some steam in the last few years, and we are here to help you figure it out. Campers know this setup all too well. The Aeropress allows you to make coffee while on the road, at the campfire, or even when you are home. It is so versatile and super easy to clean!
Make sure you have the following:
Aeropress Brewer
Kettle
Aeropress Filter
Burr Coffee Grinder
Eiland Coffee
Coffee Mug
(If you’re camping you will need a single portable burner stove with gas to heat your water)
Lets make some coffee:
Start by heating water in a kettle to 205 degrees
Measure out 14 grams of coffee on a scale, (if you’re camping or don’t have a scale, use 1 tablespoon) grind it a bit more coarse than espresso.
Insert paper filter and run some of your water water though the filter to remove any residue on the filter.
Throw your ground coffee in the brewer. Assemble the Aeropress on the scale and tare the whole thing.
Once your water has come to 205 degrees, pour water until you hit 200 ml (If you don’t have a scale, pour just a bit above the #3), give it a stir then wait for 1 minute. The coffee should “bloom”, which refers to the Co2 in the coffee being released in the form of bubbles.
When the minute is up, give the coffee a stir one more time.
Press the plunger onto the coffee and pull up slightly to create a suction in the brewer. Begin to push down until all the coffee has drained.
This recipe yields a little less than 8 ounces. You did it, yay! Enjoy it, you earned this one.
The Aeropress is perfect if you need a quick cup of joe. It is easy to clean and doesn’t require that much coffee. Take it camping, or even make a cup mid airplane flight! We love to use Brazil or new Columbia Leon for this recipe. Remember! make this recipe your own, if our recipe is a little to light for you? Add a few grams! The more important part is finding the perfect recipe for you.
